Nina Groth’s cityscapes and seascapes meet interior design and craftsmanship. The exhibition “City & Water – Living Harmony” can be seen at KOCH – DIE RAUMHANDWERKEREI in Bad Oldesloe near Hamburg, Germany. Art and interior design merge: Anyone who would like to know how the combination of interior design and painting gives rooms an individual atmosphere can experience this until mid-November 2022. The opening of the exhibition took place on Saturday, September 10th.

Interior designer Katrin von Hinüber is very happy to be able to present “such a great artist and her wonderful worksof art” to a wide audience. The traditional business, founded in 1843, is based in one of the oldest houses in the city: the perfect ambience to get involved with Nina Groth’s inspiring city and water landscapes.

Focus of the exhibition: Connections

The current exhibition is all about connections. Nina Groth’s works radiate harmony. The artist says: “I also want to give something beautiful and peaceful with my art. I work a lot with relationships and connections between elements in my paintings. Bridges are important to me. They bridge conflicts, they create opportunities. My works invite you to playfully deal with opposing positions.”

Nina Groth also combines different techniques in her work. Her works of art are predominantly made in spatula technique. She also combines her spatula technique with spray paints or collage art. In the current exhibition, it is impressive to observe how the paintings of the artist’s different art series correspond with each other and how they merge with the furnishings and the decor of the Raumhandwerkerei to create an overall impression.

Exhibition on view until November

Nina Groth and Katrin von Hinüber were happy about the great crowd at the exhibition opening on September 10th. Nina Groth on the opening: “For me, the best thing was to see how strangers got into conversation with each other and how the topic of bridges and connections became tangible.” The exhibition can be seen at KOCH – DIE RAUMHANDWERKEREI in Bad Oldesloe between Hamburg and Lübeck until mid-November 2022. Works from the art series City Lyrics, Harbour Lights, Water Flow, Tribute to Hamburg, Urban Geometrics and Unmonumental are on display.

The works of art are placed in the interior designer’s different rooms in such a way that visitors can enjoy a varied journey from coast to coast, from Hamburg’s warehouse district to the urban canyons of New York, from the modern container terminal to the traditional South Street Seaport. And by the way, there are furnishings to be explored that match the colour of the pictures. Katrin von Hinüber and Nina Groth are already looking forward to guiding more guests through the exhibition and celebrating the merging of art and interior design.
