From November 2022, the Hamburg-based gallery, Die kleine Galerie in Flottbek, will be showing Nina Groth’s and Peter Schulte’s works of art in the “City Walks” exhibition. It juxtaposes the positions of two artists with different techniques and different perspectives. Both have in common that they capture varied and contrasting walks in Hamburg.

The “City Walks” exhibition captures unusual views of Hamburg

Poppy, colourful and black and white, lively and melancholic, beautiful and stormy, painting and photography, corners of Hamburg that have never been seen before and well-known attractions: the “City Walks” exhibition unites opposites and shows Hamburg close and familiar – and surprisingly different. Die kleine Galerie in Flottbek offers northern German artists a platform and now presents Hamburg with the very own perspective of the painter Nina Groth and the photographer Peter Schulte.

Nina Groth’s path to a motif always has something to do with a walk through the city in the truest sense of the word: the artist walks paths, explores areas and feels the essence of a place, its pulse – and this is exactly what she brings to the canvas. This is how varied Hamburg motifs were created. Nina Groth works in her own Modern Urban Geometrics style, preferably with acrylic paints and spatula technique. Gallery owner and art historian Claudia Tonn about her work: “Nina Groth’s view describes completely new, individual ways. She has a fresh approach to cityscapes. Her works show an imaginative journey of discovery with unusual colours, structures and details.” Discover Nina Groth’s approach in the video. (For an English translation use the YouTube subtitles function. English subtitles are available.)

The Hamburg-based photographer Peter Schulte shows the essence of 30 years of passion for Hamburg in black and white: photographs from his book “Peter sein Hamburg”. Peter Schulte is constantly rediscovering Hamburg and capturing special moments in photos. In addition to Hamburg photography, Peter Schulte deals with food and still life photography. Here you can discover “Peter sein Hamburg” in the video.
